Staff employed by the British Railways Board are invited to use the APT now running between Glasgow and London. The stage in engineering development has been reached where on-board facilities need to be appraised with passengers. It is intended to start these staff runs on Monday, 18 October 1982. The following arrangements will apply, and particular attention is drawn to the requirements for prior reservation.
Staff and their dependants holding British Rail Identity Cards will be accepted on APT runs between Monday, 18 October, and Friday, 17 December on presentation of a valid ticket/pass and a current Identity Card and boarding card.
The train will run Monday, Wednesday and Friday, excepting Monday, 8 November as follows:

There will be a buffet selling the usual range of light refreshments but no alcohol will be allowed on the train.
Intending passengers must make their own arrangements for connecting journeys and secure valid tickets. It must be recognised that test runs may be cancelled at short notice - the following alternative service trains are available:
07.10 ex Glasgow. 14.45 ex Euston for Preston, Motherwell (change at Carlisle) and Glasgow.
Passengers may be asked to travel in particular parts of the train to assist the test program, and there will be questions for some travellers about their view of the journey. There will be no access to driving cabs, power cars or guards compartments; the engineering staff will have allocated duties and will not be available to answer questions about APT.
The following reservation arrangements will apply. Joining at Euston Boarding cards will be issued on written application to - Chief Passenger Manager, London Midland Region, Room 100, Euston House, Eversholt Street, LONDON, NW1 1DF - or by internal phone 063-2378 up to 13.00 hours on the day of travel. Joining at Preston Boarding cards will be issued through Euston as above for Down trains and up to 13.00 hours on the preceding day for Up trains. Joining at Motherwell Boarding cards will be issued on personal or written application to the Travel Centre up to 17.00 hours prior to the day of travel. Joining at Glasgow Boarding cards will be issued on personal or written application at the seat reservation office on Central Station up to 17.00 hours prior to the day of travel.
BOARDING CARDS WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE ADMISSION TO THE TRAIN.
